Bespoke jewellery pieces constructed in silver and copper using semi-precious gemstones to accentuate, and patinas to highlight, deepen and intrigue.
Signature techniques include detailed hand piercing, oxidisation and surface texturing. Inspiration is taken from geography, architectural and botanical forms and human sensuality and sexuality.
The Lie of the Land range draws upon cartography and uses ordnance survey data to re-imagine the land and water of Scotland as bespoke wearable art. Islands become pendants, brooches and cufflinks and loch are reformed as rings, wrist cuffs and kilt pins.
A key feature of the range is to celebrate memories and your choice of gemstone can be set at a point on the island that is meaningful for you, perhaps the site of a childhood holiday, wedding or other treasured memory. Each piece can be further personalised, for example, with a choice of finishes and surface textures.
All work is handmade by silversmith and jewellery designer, Clare Spencer who lives in Glasgow and works under the business name, Rose Madder.
Commissions make up the majority of Rose Madderβs business and designs can be tailored to suit your needs, in varying finishes and materials. Commissions usually come via word of mouth which is the best indicator of satisfaction. They allow Clare to get to know each client and fulfil the part of her work that she really loves - creating truly personal pieces with concepts that are tailored towards the recipient.
