  there's a website - www.jerseycares.org - that lists a lot of volunteer opportunities. I used to volunteer at the www.monmouthcountyspca.org, cause I love animals (dogs especially). You can be a dog walker, cat socializer, etc. There are quite a few shelters/rescues in the area. There's also Big Brothers / Big Sisters which I looked into but that's too much of a commitment for my busy lifestyle. Habitat for Humanity, Clean Ocean Action, Food Bank, tons of opportunities!

  I volunteered with Monmouth county SPCA and we use to bring dogs to Petsmart for outreaches every weekend. The facility at freehold mall is so nice. They do keep puppies at the main facility in aero town too. Call-732-542-0040. Www. Monmouthcountyspca.org

  If anyone knows of any program being held or classes held for kids in Ocean/Monmouth County that teaches proper care of animals and most importantly why animal cruelty is wrong please let me know. I'm trying to find something in hopes my foster children can learn that hurting animals is wrong. It's getting out of hand here. I just had one kick my cat in the face because "him was in my way" -that was her excuse. I'm livid about the situation and so are my children.
