  We just moved here to Monroe and my in-laws are here visiting for the week. We'd love to show them (and us!) around a bit and are thinking of taking a ferry to Whidbey island and having dinner. We have 4 small kids so I'm looking for kid friendly restaurant and activity suggestions on Whidbey island. We would like to use public transportation when we get there as well so we don't have to drive. Is this easy to use on the island? I'd love some help and suggestions. Thanks!!

  Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I quite liked Knead & Feed in Coupeville. They mostly serve sandwiches and soup (including chowder). Like Natalie, I would recommend driving. In fact, I'd recommend taking the ferry over and then driving up the island and across the bridge at Deception Pass (with a stop there to walk across the bridge, if you have the time).
