  "My husband and I want to look into fostering and adopting in Portage county, Ohio. However our family services website is NOT user friendly and getting anyone to return phone calls or answer questions is pretty close to impossible. It sounds like we need 60 hours of "parenting and training" classes. Yet we can't even get a solid answer on where to take them and when. We started looking into it after 3 years of infertility and now this has come to be a frustrating as negative pregnancy tests. Feeling a little defeated. Anyone have advice on how to get into the system so we can foster, and possibly foster to adopt? And also on how you stayed positive?"

  My sister and I are in the process of getting certified in NE Ohio. We're in Geauga Co., but have been travelling to get our classes done in Summit and Ashtabula. Here's the website with the list of pre-service training classes offered by the state. http://ocwtp.net/NEORTC/Foster%20Parent%20Training.html I had a hard time finding info and getting responses too! I'm sorry you're having trouble. From what I understand, you'll need to take 12 classes (3 hours each). PM me if you have any questions for me!
