Artist's Statement
Pictures are magical. They stop time and carry it forward, capture and evoke emotion, and take viewers places they have never been while remaining in their comfort zone. Pictures tell stories impossible to express other ways and often a single image or collection will tell different stories, even while remaining the same.
To capture and express that enchantment I begin each project by visualizing the entire scene and then deciding which part of the moment and scene I want to explore. I really enjoy night photography as the light draws shapes that frame many little scenes in the full frame. Often getting the one shot you see involves hours of travel, capture and processing. However, when the work is going well the image just “pops” and a God inspired wonder fills the spaces. I believe no image is complete without a frame. To that end, I carefully select the mat and framing materials often using special papers and mounting to give my work more definition, depth and texture.
I complete various art projects and events during the course of the year please stop back often to see what's coming up next.
