About us

Our mission

Founded in 2012 Save Me Rescue, located in Southern Ontario, is one of many non-profit organizations dedicated to rescuing abandoned or otherwise homeless animals, (primarily dogs) from high-kill shelters predominantly around Canada and the United States. Additionally, Save Me Rescue focuses our efforts on providing foster homes for dogs whose owners are no longer able to care for them, in order to place them in the care of individually chosen families with whom they can bond and grow with in years to come.

By effectively connecting and working alongside impossibly committed volunteers, dedicated foster homes, local veterinarians, diligent trainers and boarding facilities, Save Me is able to rescue, rehabilitate and relocate a large number of animals every year. Providing incoming animals with much-needed loving temporary care until we are able to find them carefully screened, well-matched forever homes is simply our pleasure.

Formed after recognizing a need for an organization which specialized on the medical health and behavioural well-being of the dogs they rescued, Save Me also found an absence of support for the families behind their adoptions. This includes both the families surrendering dogs who often have no other choice but to turn to shelters or rescue groups for help, by ensuring that they feel supported in their decisions and reassuring them that their loved ones will be cared for in every sense of the word, and keeping in touch with the families who we have been lucky enough to meet through the adoption of one of our foster dogs.

To further prevent this issue from occurring, Save Me Rescue decided very early on to also serve as a resource to communities and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spaying and/or neutering your pet, positive behavior training, and proper nutrition.
