About us
Sam Hay is a independent singer/songwriter, born in Scotland and brought up on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. Playing the acoustic guitar, and foot drum accompanied with soft vocals, she creates upbeat folk music.
Through this she is able to create her own personal way of storytelling through her originals and showcase her own versions of well-known covers for everyone to enjoy. Exploring all different genres and styles, Sam ensures to reach an audience of all walks of life.
Sam is a frequent performer around the Sunshine Coast; from playing local events through her younger years in Buderim for multiple charity organisations, to moving into the busking world around the Sunshine Coast and she is now playing at larger venues (surf clubs, festivals and bars) as well as keeping true to her busking and charitable roots and playing at cafes, local markets and intimate venues.
In May 2016, Sam self-produced and released her debut 6-song EP, "A Talk With Time”, exploring her personal experiences and growth as a musician, friend and human. From finishing high school, the highs and lows of friendships and finding her feet in the “real world”.
In time with the release of her new EP, Sam embarked on a 5-week tour down the East Coast of Australia, in her van “Flow”. From the Sunshine Coast to South Australia, she was able to reach new audiences, spread her music, play coastal shows and in major cities, and raise awareness for ocean conservation all the way down the coast. A major HIGHLIGHT of this trip for Sam was playing an intimate gig for the Melbourne Storm team and staff.
Recently, Sam has won a local competition on the Sunshine Coast called the “Beach Buskers of Mooloolaba”, in search of the best buskers on the Sunshine Coast. Since then she has been on the likes of: BalconyTV, 91.9SeaFM, The Sunshine Coast Daily, NamJam (contestant winner) and she's only getting started.
The future is looking promising, and Sam is now focusing on building a bigger sound through... show more incorporating keyboard, electric guitar and a looping station into her set and working on her next EP.
