  Hi Linda! Happy Saturday night. I work for a design/build landscape construction company. When our clients rip out dead grass we install about 1/3 time real grass replacement, 1/3 time artificial turf and 1/3 time a lawn alternative. There's a lot of pros and cons but it really depends on your own existing landscape; There's a lot that goes into it. One of the biggest cons is people who do a bad job installing it and it looks terrible, but it can look great if done correctly.
