  CHIMNEY STACK nightmare. We have a situation where we wish to install a log burning stove, but our chimney stack downstairs is actually just a single skin thermalite box and doesn't contain anything other than a flue opening in the top right corner. It is apparently unsuitable as a functioning chimney. The rest of the stack is brick above. Has anyone had extensive chimney work/rebuilding done in the area who may recommend a competent and structurally aware building company for such a task? General builders don't seem to want to touch it.

  Hi all A request for any HETAS engineers/ Woodburners installer. We need someone to come out asap to sign off and get us a HETAS certificate for a Woodburner we had installed in 2014. We have been told that anyone who is HETAS registered can do this for us. Sorry if I have this info wrong. TIA

  I think you might have problems getting a HETAS installer to sign off someone else's installation. There are many on the HETAS website http://www.hetas.co.uk/find-installer/. You will also need to have a carbon monoxide alarm.
