The Iron Rail In 1889 Thomas F .Young purchased the New Milford House, which stood on this site. In the late afternoon of May 5, 1902, the Great New Milford Fire started in the livery stable behind the New Milford House, spreading rapidly through the downtown area. The fire destroyed thirty buildings including the New Milford House. In 1902 Thomas F. Young erected this three story hotel and restaurant that stands today. The hand carved mahogany bar you see has been in place since the original construction. After his death in 1935, Young’s family continued to operate the hotel and restaurant until the mid-1940’s. Since then, the restaurant has been passed down through many owners, including the current owner’s father. The Young’s Hotel has always tried to provide a warm welcoming atmosphere to the local community. While continuing in this tradition, The Iron Rail will offer a place to enjoy the nostalgia of the forty foot bar while grabbing a quick bite to eat or joining us with your family for a meal in our newly renovated dining room. With over thirty five years in the restaurant business we strive to feature a classic menu while staying abreast of the current food trends.
I am looking for suggestions for a quiet bar/restaurant for a small group (4 or 5) tomorrow afternoon. No sports bar -we want to be able to chat and not yell over the game. Any suggestions? Thanks!
