Can anyone give me a website or company name that they order pumpkin seeds from? I'm looking to grow the fancy pumpkins that you find at pumpkin patches. For example: flatso, pink skin, or teal.
Where do you all get your seeds and veggie plants? Is there a place that sells non GMO plants? Does the Wylde Center or ACE have them? Just thought I'd ask in case any of you knows. How important is that? Is organic good enough?

these guys are geared for our region http://www.southernexposure.com/
Ok lovely organic neighbors... besides Sow True Seeds in Asheville (which I love btw), where (local to E. Tennessee or WNC) would you recommend buying seeds, fruit trees, and organic compost (we just can't make enough!)
Where can i buy seeds that i can grow and then harvest seeds from them instead of buying more seeds? Most places now a days you have to buy yearly because their seeds wont grow.

Baker Creek http://www.rareseeds.com/ , Southern Exposure Seed Exchange http://www.southernexposure.com/ , Seed Savers Exchange http://www.seedsavers.org/ are all good places to order heirloom seeds. There are lots of others as well. These are my 3 favorite.
Lisa Crowder's excitement over seed catalogs and plant sales is infectious! I'd like to try for a vegetable garden again this year, and I'm looking for your opinions: what are some of your favorite seed/seedling sources?
Cathy Q. replied:
If you want southern seeds, try Southern Exposure, it has a "Top 5" rating by Dave's Garden: "Southern Exposure Seed Exchange offers more than 700 varieties of vegetable, flower, herb, grain and cover crop seeds. We emphasize varieties that perform well in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, although gardeners and farmers from all over the country grow our seeds. We offer many unusual, Southern heirlooms, yacon, basils, and amaranths including peanuts, southern peas, naturally colored cotton, collards, okra, roselle, turnip greens, corns for roasting and meal, and butterbeans. However, we serve gardeners throughout the United States and Canada. We do not sell chemically treated seed." http://www.southernexposure.com/
Forgive me if this is a re-hash of previous discussions, but can someone recommend the best place to shop for heirloom seeds? So many places to choose from, and quite frankly, some of them look a little unprofessional.

I'm wanting to get a container garden going. Anyone have recommendations of where to buy heirloom vegetable seeds even if it is a website? I dont' know exactly what I want to grow yet so I don't have specifics.
Erin from South Carolina asked us:

Which seed companies would you recommend? - Jeremy
Angela K. replied:
http://www.southernexposure.com/ They have a great selection of open-pollinated seeds, many heirloom and organic varieties, adapted to the Southeast and mid-Atlantic.
Lisa from Tampa Bay asked "2nd year vegetable gardener wants to know where you seasoned gardeners would suggest I purchase/ get my heirloom seeds from?? Thanks in advance- much appreciated!"
Do you have any recommendations for Lisa?

I absolutely LOVE Southern Exposure Seed Exchange www.southernexposure.com
Trying to get ready for the spring. Any recommendations for great heirloom seed sources?

Oh!! Great question. :) There are a couple of places. I get some of mine through our local co-op. They sell Heirlooms Evermore, and they are pretty reasonable. In fact, they are the first place I'll get seeds from. When I can't find what I want from them, then I'll go to Baker's Creek. I love both of the companies! There are a few other companies as well, but I haven't yet purchased from them. :) Heirlooms Evermore - http://heirloomsevermoreseeds.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-purchase-our-seeds.html Here are a few more... http://johnnyseeds.com/ www.seedsavers.orghttp://www.underwoodgardens.com/ http://www.southernexposure.com/ http://sustainableseedco.com/ http://www.newhopeseed.com/ http://www.highmowingseeds.com/
