Can anyone recommend a good Mac repair/service store in LA? I need to add more RAM to my desktop IMMEDIATELY! Please and thank you!

I came late to the conversation! Yes, Fry's is good for DIY. If you need help, Di-No [ http://di-no.com/ ]in Pasadena is decent, but not great. It sounds like there are some other great options mentioned here already...
Can anyone recommend a reliable Apple computer service technician? LHM!

I saw this, and unfortunately there isn't much you can do. Sometimes.....rarely...if you go to the store and there is a very generous manager you can get a good deal on repairs. Some repair shops will also be more flexible than Apple. We have one here that will often repair things that Apple won't. If your computer is under the warrantee period they could get Apple to cover it. They are probably stretching their limits, but they've done it for other people here. http://di-no.com/2012/ If you need to replace it, get a refurb from Apple, then transfer your data over. Don't use the old HDD. Too much risk in it failing down the road. Apple's Migration assistant is pretty easy and effective. You'll just need to make sure you software is ready for 10.8 (most is).
