Best day trips in 3 hour radius? My best friend and I are trying to take fun day trips as often as we can. The weekend before last we went to House on the Rock up in Wisconsin and got dinner in Madison afterwards. Before that we did the Volo antique mall which was almost just as good.
We most like weird stuff (like House on the Rock), old stuff (museums, architecture, antiques), craft fairs/unusual festivals, or shopping (thrift stores or nice little local areas like Geneva). Not so much into sports or hiking, but whatever you’ve got within a 3 hour radius of the Carol Stream/Wheaton area I’d love to hear it.
Any recommendations?

We're going to House on the Rock next week, so excited! I haven't been since I was a kid -- they were in the middle of building the whale room last time I went. There are a bunch of neat antique malls/shops up and down (or just off) Route 50 in Wisconsin. I don't have my map available any longer but it's pretty easy to google "antique stores" and map out a route for a day trip. Have you been to [Woolly Mammoth](https://www.woollymammothchicago.com/) in Chicago? There's also the [International Museum of Surgical Science](https://imss.org/) in Chicago, which IMO is worth a visit.
What are some oddity/curiosity shops or similar stores in or around Chicago? Places that sell weird antiques, taxidermy, other strange specimens Hi, I hope I am not breaking the "no buying or selling" rule because I am not looking to buy something in particular, just looking for good shopping recommendations. If I'm breaking a rule, I'm sorry!!
I already know of Wooly Mammoth, where you can buy taxidermy, bones (both human and animal), old pharmacy and dentist equipment, strange antique books, other cool and rare things. That place is really cool!
There is also Moss in Forest Park that sells lots of animal parts (animal horns, porcupine quills, shells, things like that) plus some strange artwork, and other naturally found oddities. I'm wondering if there are any other similar shops in the area that anyone can recommend? Thanks in advance!!
