S.N.K.I. was formed to facilitate the opening of a high-volume, spay/neuter clinic in the Kingston and surrounding area based on the self-sustaining model used by the Humane Alliance, open to all members of the public regardless of demographics or monetary income.
OBJECTS:
To improve the welfare of cats and dogs in the Greater Kingston Area by:
a. promoting and supporting the establishment and operation of a non-profit high volume spay and neuter service for dogs and cats using qualified veterinarian partners;
b. implementing education programs to make the public aware of the problem of pet overpopulation, the benefits of spaying and neutering their pets, the procedure, and the availability of the spay-neuter service;
c. assisting area animal shelters and rescue groups by providing reduced cost surgeries;
d. promoting the return of lost pets to their owners by sponsoring microchip clinics and other events designed to improve pet identification and the chance of owner and stray animal being reunited;
e. raising funds to spay and neuter the pets of low income owners, based on the provincial standards of poverty;
f. promoting and facilitating Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Return programs for managed feral cat colonies through the Region, including reduced costs on surgeries.
I'm posting here b/c I don't know where else to post this.... Is there a feral cat colony in the area that volunteers take care of? And is there a trap, neuter, return program here? Thanks!
