  Looking for any recommendations for a vet in Sussex County who does reasonably priced MRIs. Our dog was critically injured today by a hit-and-run car. He was left for dead in the middle of the road. Blessedly, someone stopped to help him and notify us. Amazingly, he doesn't have a broken bone or any internal hemorrhaging, but he does have some type of brain injury. An MRI would greatly help the vets to know how to treat him, but they're quoting a price of almost $4,000. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  Depending on the surgery. My 12 yr old dog required ACL surgery, my dogs were patients of Georgetown Animal Hospital at the time. Dr. John sent me to http://www.vscdel.com/. I live near Long Neck, De. I have switched to Savannah Animal Hospital as they offer more comprehensive services then Georgetown Animal Hospital. I have a 14 yr dog and a 3 yr old cat. And importantly, are there any specialists in De for our pets that require specialized care by orthopedist, opthamologist or ononcologists? It is important to know who serves the Sussex county pets.   Definitely further then 1-hr but in Newark at VSCD. We have a 9-yr old dog who has gone through cancer surgery twice and they are exceptional. They handle all stages of specialty. http://www.vscdel.com/

  http://www.vscdel.com/ These guys are the ones that most vets refer you to for anything beyond routine check ups and simple surgeries. The cancer specialist we met with was a Ms. Gaeta. Keep in mind, your pup is 11. I put down my almost 11 year old last Sept, cancer. It was too late for my dog, but even if your dog's cancer may be treatable, doing so might not provide him with the best quality of life. Of course it all depends on the prognosis.
