Endodontics is the field of dentistry that deals with treating problems relating to the pulp or nerve tissue of a tooth, more commonly referred to as 'Root canal treatment'. The general aims of endodontic treatments are to relieve symptoms of pain and discomfort, prevent or treat infections and to save teeth. Very often, endodontic treatment is seen as the last chance option to save a tooth. The advent of the Dental Operating Microscope together with a clearer understanding of the biological processes involved with diseases and healing, have completely changed the field of endodontics from what used to be a 'guessing game' to a predictable and solid treatment option. This means that teeth that were traditionally condemned to be extracted, can very often now be saved and continue to function indefinitely. People often ask why we put so much effort into saving something so small as a tooth. The answer is different for each patient but centers around function and aesthetics. A smile is often regarded as the most important aspect of someone's appearance but, without teeth, this changes dramatically. Without teeth, and even with the best replacements, eating and talking gets compromised and quality of life decreases.
Hi there :)
I need to have my wisdom teeth removed. I'm petrified of needles (and pain), so looking for somebody who has experience.
Any recommendations for who I could go to?
Thank you :)

Please could someone recommend a gentle dentist in the area. Don't mind if they are contracted in or out of medical aid as long as they are good with patients and do good work. I am new to this area. Thanks in advance.
