Looking for KC's favorite neighborhood restaurants (non-chains)... The other night while eating at Chelly's in Waldo (one of our favorite low-profile neighborhood restaurants), I started wondering about similar types of spots throughout town. Places that have been around a while, ingrained into the neighborhood, good food, family owned, not chains.... A few that come to mind include Fric & Frac (Volker), Caddy Shack (River Market), Charlie Hooper's (Brookside). What are some of your favorites? Interested in hearing about places all over town.

Longboards. There are a few locations, but definitely not a chain place. If you look over the menu and can't decide, tell the staff what you like, and they'll help you figure out a fitting option. Really good food. http://longboardswrapsandbowls.com/
We are New to Kansas City & trying to find the best locally owned & mom & pop shops for breakfasts & dinners. We live in Lenexa. Any suggestions?

If you like wraps & bowls, etc, you should try Longboards in Mission on Johnson Drive. They are locally owned with 4 locations http://longboardswrapsandbowls.com/locations/
