  Hello! I am looking for a seamstress who is capable of working with 80 year old heavy satin fabric. It is my dream to wear the dress that both my mother and grandmother wore. They were both significantly smaller than myself so I didn't think it was possible/cost effective to alter it and conceded that a new dress was the way to go. After trying 80 dresses I think it is time to succumb to the fact that I can't find what I am looking for in a store. I would love to cut the bottom of the dress off and turn it into a tea length skirt possibly with a slight high low hem line. The satin has yellowed and will need cleaning. This dress has been wore by grandmother, mother, and two aunts. It has more sentimental value than I can possibly express. I am scared to death that someone will ruin the fabric. Does anyone have any recommendations on an amazing seamstress?
