Ugh. Who has had the dreaded sewer pipe replacement? Roto rooter just left and we have a quote for a minimum of $8,000 to partially fix the problem or $30,000+ to fix the whole shebang.
Evidently we need to tear out the basement floor and fix those pipes, tear out & replace the pipes from the house to the curb, and then replace the connection from the house line to the main line in the street. (I don't speak plumber so I'm hoping I understood this correctly.)
We live on appletree Road and all the houses here are pretty much the same. Has anyone up here had this fix done on their house? Who did you use and was it as much as our quote???
And two more questions...
I could not get a straight answer from the guy, so I really don't know if this needs to be done immediately or if it can wait a little while longer? (This is another reason to get a second opinion with someone who is a straight shooter.) we've lived in our home for almost 3 years and this is the first time we have had any back up and any water in our basement. Do we have time to wait?
Is the borough on the hook for any of this?
Thanks for reading, and thank you for any help you might be able to get to us.
