I got my start in residential construction in 2003. I took a job as a laborer for a masonry crew. At the time I was simply trying to pay a few bills until my art career could take shape. It was very hard and physical work, but not, as many might think, thoughtless work. It was as methodical as it was physical. I had a knack for it and quickly made huge strides. Looking back now I can see that I didn't abandon that art career, I simply chose a different medium. Instead of something that I created being simply aesthetic and frozen in time, building and renovating homes and spaces allows the project to change and evolve over time. It also becomes a living and tangible member of someone's family. I take great pride in that and treat every home as if it were mine. Yes, I do many small and odd jobs, but I also love to design and redesign spaces. If it's never been done before, there's no quicker way to put a smile on my face than to issue that challenge to me.
