The forebearance for the house note is coming due and the bank is calling. The house is effed and not worth taking out a loan to repair. It's totaled. I'm not 100% sure what FEMA has told them as step-dad isn't the best at communication. Sigh. I guess what I'm looking for is someone who can help me navigate our options. I don't know enough about this kind of thing to go any route but bankruptcy/foreclosure which would screw them. I know we're not the only ones in this situation... Do I contact a real estate atty? Is there some kind of advocate or ombudsman that does this? Anyone have any kind of experience? Thank y'all so much in advance for any help, I really really appreciate it.
