  Immigration Lawyer Recommendation Hello everyone, I have been living in Des Moines for a few months now and I'm finally getting married to my fiancée (we have been together for the past 4 years). After we get married I need to start the paperwork for a green card application. The problem is that I hadn't anticipated how expensive this process was. I called a firm this week and their fee for filling the paperwork was almost 3k plus the 1.5k on federal fees. And this is a lot of money for me at this moment because most of my income is being reserved for our wedding in December. So my questions is: Do you know any law firm that has a good reputation and whose fees would be a little lower than that? I wouldn't mind personally calling and making appointments to discuss my situation with the lawyers, the problem is that they are charging around 100 dollars for this assessment. And this will add up. Thank you in advance for all your help.

  If you meet the financial requirements (i.e. Make less than a certain amount of money) Iowa legal aid is free. Iowalegalaid.org is the website I think. Google it if this doesn't work

  Iowa legal aid will only get involved if there's abuse. At least that's what i was told a year ago from them. They don't have the funds to help all cases.
