Hi everyone,
Yesterday I asked for referrals for yard work help, and you guys were amazing! Thank you so very much for your many referrals and recommendations!
Today, I need more help, and the request is somewhat more challenging: our insurance company insists that we obtain a letter from a roofing company that the roof on our 1928 Seward Park home (designed by local architect Andrew Willatsen, who was the only architect in the region trained by Frank Lloyd Wright), remains in good repair. All the roofing companies we've contacted don't want to do this; they just want to construct new roofs, of course. In Seattle, with the current housing boom, they can get away with refusing to come out and simply examine the condition of our roof. (Of course we will pay them for their time!!)
So do any of you good people know of reputable roofers who will do this for us? We love this house and there have been no leaks -- the roof is in great shape -- insurers just want their pound of flesh. Of course, if it turns out our assessment is incorrect, and we do need roof repairs, or an entirely new roof, we will have this work done.
For those of you who are architecturally inclined: Andrew Willatsen designed quite a few homes that were very cutting-edge for the 1920s throughout the city of Seattle. Many of them have already been torn down and replaced by multi-million dollar ultra-contemporary luxury box houses with no spirit, or by soulless condos. We feel grateful that we could afford this house way back when, and sincerely hope we can keep this precious piece of Seattle history from also being destroyed. We are deeply grateful for your help!!!
