#BankBlack USA is a campaign to move $500 million to black-owned banks between MLK Day 2017 and MLK Day 2018. This is just one small and easy way to InvestInUs. And while saving for your own future, you can help to bolster these black institutions that support black families, black businesses, and black communities.
Banks in the Boston area supporting BLM? I received an email from my credit card company addressing the impact of protests, looting, and rioting on their branches and ATMs. It didn't actually get at any of the issues, or the ways that banking, predatory lending, and other financial practices actually work to perpetuate the injustice in our country.
I live in the Greater Boston area and I've been thinking about the decisions I make every day that are within my power to change in a positive way, so I wanted to ask: where are the banks or credit unions that are doing the right thing in our communities? I'm looking for places that have diverse boards and management, that are investing in their communities, and have policies and procedures in place to prevent discrimination and racism in lending.
If you've seen the post from Ben and Jerry's about dismantling white supremacy, where's the equivalent view in banking and lending?
