About us
I am a member of International Association of Canine Professionals. Dogs have been partners of humans for 33,000 years starting in Central Europe. According to scientific DNA evidence our modern day domestic dogs are related to the ancient wolf more than the modern wolf. My client from the University of California animal psychology lab explained to me that polymorphisms in DNA took place over 50 million to 150 million years ago. The past 33,000 years of domesticating dogs have not seen a change in the genetics as some modern advocates advertise with no personal scientific evidence of hands on study.
Our modern day pedigrees have physical variations in size, color of fur and physical form. However, the psychological and biological systems of dogs have not changed. Nature will not allow humans to humanize dogs. Nature will always win and dogs can become feral in packs. My methodology is based on learning to communicate with dogs as dogs understand communication. It is nice to fantasize of other training methods that please the human emotions. Dogs will always be dogs. Dogs are more mentally balanced, happy, safe and obedient when treated as a dog not your living teddy bear. My training method is humane with structure and love. I adjust levels of communication according to the dogs psychological profile. There are dog trainers that advocate the modern humane approach to dog training. When researching the modern methods you will see that these techniques are a band aid to a serious problem. Some of the modern techniques advocated are dog crate timeout, food or treat feeding, spraying oils in the dogs face, gentle leaders, air sprays to the face and last but not least drugging your dog on sedatives. None of these are humane treatments.
The modern dog training advocates are not solving the problem but at best temporarily discourage the dog from a bad habit. Food manipulation or clickers are a temporary distraction.
