  Canine ACL surgery- western suburbs My dog was just diagnosed with a torn CCL (dog equivalent of ACL) and she is going to need TPLO surgery. We are waiting on a referral from our regular vet, as they do not do this type of surgery. In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone else has opted for TPLO surgery for their dog in this area and if there were any recommendations of vets/clinics I should look into when comparing quotes.   Maybe a bit far from you but this place in Buffalo Grove [https://www.vetspecialty.com](https://www.vetspecialty.com) was one of the most amazing animal hospitals I have ever seen. They have specialists for almost everything, things I didn’t even know existed. Like who knew there is a doggy dermatologist. They list on their web site this type of surgery. They have a great rehab facility as well that we made use of for our dog after a different type of surgery.

  Hi all! I was hoping someone could offer a recommendation for a vet that you trust for surgery for a slightly torn acl in our dog, BeBop. We’re newer to the area and obviously would like the best care for him (that won’t totally break the bank- we do have pet insurance so that helps)Also, have any of you dealt with a slight tear in your dog’s acl before? Have you tried any alternatives? I’ve been researching braces but it looks like he will inevitably need surgery. He’s a one year 9 month border collie terrier mix so very active!   Yes check out Med Vet. It’s a little further out of the city, but you may also want to check out VSC in Buffalo Grove. I have a large breed and though he hasn’t needed surgery yet, a lot of our large breed friends have gone here for their surgeries https://www.vetspecialty.com

Current vet is recommending surgery with a price tag of $3,500 plus therapy on top of the $750 exam fee just paid! Has anyone had recent experience with this? Do these prices sound accurate? Does anyone know of a vet that they trust that does this type of surgery without going to University of Illinois? The cost is 3500-$6000 per leg.
