Originally trained as a printmaker and fine artist, Guido Porto earned a M.A. in Architecture from SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture). In both Los Angeles and Tokyo, he was fortunate to learn from and work with some of the leading architects of the West Coast avant-garde that was bourgeoning in the 1980’s and 1990’s. In particular, Guido Porto studied under Neil Denari and Coy Howard.
As a practicing architect within that vibrant environment, Guido Porto worked in the studios of Frederick Fisher, Lawson-Burke Structural Engineers, and Rios-Clementi-Hale (formerly Rios Associates).
Guido Porto’s designs strive to deliver a sense of interconnectivity in an era often marked by its opposite, while acknowledging and making use of the aesthetic potential of flux and juxtaposition.
