  We are in the Birmingham area in Alabama and were told by a friend that there is a local dish here called hot tamales... kind of a hybrid between traditional African cuisine and Mexican tamales. Fried, not steamed and spicier. We can't find any restaurants that serve them though... does anyone know of what we are talking about and where we would get them?
