The Community House, Worthing
About us
The Community House is a place in the heart of the East Worthing community where people can meet up informally, take part in activities or drop in for help and advice when it is needed. It is a friendly, relaxed environment where everyone is welcome and you will always be greeted with a smile. The house is run by paid staff together with volunteers and offers opportunities for all ages.
The Community House is open to everyone. We run a variety of activities, from coffee mornings to after school activities, and help with education and training.
Here's what's happening at the Community House as of June '14:
MONDAY
am: Basic IT skills 10am-11am or 11:30am to 12:30pm
pm: Krafty Kids 3.15 - 4.45pm craft based activities for children, after school
TUESDAY
AM: Computers and signposting help
PM: Active Tuesday at The Wave 3.15 - 4.45pm physical exercise and games for children, after school
WEDNESDAY:
AM: Tea and chat (at Pearsons Retreat Brougham Rd)- older persons social activities from 10am-12pm
PM: Cooking for Under 11s - after school 3.15-4.45pm
THURSDAY
AM: 11am - 1pm - Football at Kitty's Field
PM: 3.15 - 4.45pm - After school cooking for Over 11s, free play and homework sessions
FRIDAY
AM: No activities, but you can still drop in!
PM: Our Patch gardening club for kids, after school 3.15 - 4.45pm
EVENING: The Crew - Teens Group 5pm to 7pm
Help with homework is available every day and we have a number of computers and a printer that can be used for this or for job searches, acquiring information, or for general internet use. We have an arts and crafts room and a garden, which you are welcome to enjoy! The Community House is the ideal place to meet new friends and to have a chat with like-minded people.
We can offer a lot of practical help. You are welcome to come and use our phone free of charge – just ask. If you need some help to fill in important but long and difficult forms or would like us to help you get in touch with the right people to help with a problem, just come in and... show more say hello or give us a call.
We are usually open every weekday from 10am to 5pm.
Would you like to volunteer at the Community House? With just one or two hours a week you can make a big difference! We will give you training and support, and encourage you to learn new skills and get involved as much or as little as you want.
