  I feed 100% raw to my 2 dogs and 4 cats. I work for Pet Food Express so we feed a lot of the brands they carry. We also get green tripe from Hollister (greentripe.com) and we get a variety of meats from SF Raw (sfraw.net). We're also about to start getting quail eggs from Olivera Egg Farm in SJ and start feeding those. PM if you want more details!

  I like Evanger's canned foods. They have quite a few that are grain and chicken free. Or Canidae Pure. For tripe, I actually prefer fresh green tripe from greentripe.com, but in a pinch Solid Gold or Tripett make good canned tripe.

  Ok, now I'm caught up on the rest of this thread and the not eating thing. First, I get my tripe from greentripe.com. The frozen stuff is great. Next, it wouldn't be hard to believe that this is pain-related, all of it. She may have been jumpy as a pup because things hurt, and pain certainly does a number on activity levels and appetite. I've seen dogs all of a sudden get very friendly and active once resolved, and it can be transformative. I don't know all the steps you'll have to take to chase this down, but it seems really important at this point. This kind of appetite issue, while not entirely strange in shepherds of all kinds, is strange combined with everything else. The roached back could be conformational, but that's what I assumed with Marzipan too (her mother has a severe topline) until she was found to be really, really tight in the lower back and resisting certain stretches. So maybe this isn't ortho with Anya, or is a combo of ortho and then also something medical with the appetite, but my stab in the dark is that something is painful, since that would cover all the things, including being independent and remote and all that.

  Welcome to the list! There's a partial list of raw purveyors on the group links - these are mostly listmembers who are also distributors. There's also a SoCa co-op...I think their yahoogroups is called socalbarf? Also a bit north of you is greentripe.com - I would use them if I lived closer. I'm in Michigan so can't help with specifics. No matter where you are in the country, ethnic markets, carnicieras and any old supermarket when they put meat on sale when it's almost at the "sell-by" date are good resources. How many dogs and what kind do you have?
