  Jon W. wrote: I recommended Spartan to My 82 year old Mom when her Heat went out in mid-winter early 2014. I thought they were reputable. Her as so many other seniors are on very tight budgets. When sales rep came out, he talked her into replacing her working AC also, even though there were no problems. He stated he could put an after-market Payne unit in and it was actually made by Carrier. It would have ten year warranty but those are top of the line, no worry. She used the AC for 3 months in which she had to have them come out and fix it once due to it stop cooling the first summer. Summer 2015 Mom’s house starts to get to 85, so she decides it is time to start to use her AC. (She uses very little due to budget) When she turns it on, it just blows warm air. We call Spartan. Tech charges $168 dollars to tell her the unit under warranty is broke and is going to cost her an additional $906 to replace the warranty coil. This includes a $65 fee to pick up the part that is a mile from Moms house and 2 miles from Spartan. $32.50 for paper work. $129. To hook a little evacuation pump up to evacuate a system that has basically been evacuated due to coil being removed and included in all this with the labor $280 then sliding additional labor for a filter dryer $190. THIS IS A BIG WARNING, IF YOU WANT A MONEY PIT, follow these same footsteps. Otherwise go to a reputable Heating & Air Conditioning Company.
