VOLUNTEERS RUN THIS PAGE AND DO NOT WORK AT THE SHELTER! We take pictures of the most current "adoptable" animals on Wednesday afternoons!! We try to receive updates from the shelter as much as possible but we are not there on a daily basis. Please understand that most animals are brought in as strays and there is no known history and we can only offer information from what we observe when socializing with the animals. It is always best to bring your children and dogs to the shelter for a meet & greet if you are interested in adopting an animal!
The Lapeer County Animal Shelter is a government municipal animal control so the public can go view an animal during adoption hours. All the shelter requires in order to adopt an animal is your drivers license! No animals can be placed on hold and its a first come first serve basis! Keep in mind that if an animal is not altered, there will be a contract and a refund of $50 will be issued after showing proof of spay/neuter!

Dogs are $50 and cats are $20. This also helps with rescues willing to pull an animal into their organization as they do not have the extra funds for adoption fees.
