About us
Nestled in the heart of Emerald Seedlings, past Wingate Golf Club, off Alpes Road in Calgary Close Picabella is a small owner-run Rose Nursery. Striving for excellence and quality all rose propagation is done on site by our skilled team under the watchful eye of Gil Laver (BSc. Hort; Natal), a well-known rose specialist. Beautiful rose gardens and green lawns grace the Nursery where visitors are welcome to wander and enjoy the scent of our blooms at their best.
On sale at Picabella are a range of Hybrid Tea Roses, Cluster roses, and delightful miniature roses. We have roses in sleeves, as standards and bushes and offer a range of beautiful roses in containers. We also propagate a wide range of deeply scented David Austin Roses and specialize in Topiaries and Lavender.
Picabella Rose Nursery is open from 8.00-5.00pm on weekdays and 8.00-12.30 on Saturdays, closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. We encourage rose growers to visit our Rose Clinic on Saturday mornings when Gil Laver is on hand to answer your questions - and we welcome gardeners to join us to learn about composting, pruning and rose care. We also specialize in pruning advice and “on-site” home visits to get your roses “right” for those special occasions.
Garden Clubs are welcome to use our venue for their meetings and Gil can be on hand to chat about roses!
