About us
I’m Christie-Anne and my husband is Gerhard. We share a love of entertaining, food, cooking and baking. We have been baking the most delectable red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese for so many occasions, had a stall at the Good Food and Wine show, many markets and we even cater as personal chefs, training butlers, domestics and even do special occasions like book club, birthday cooking parties, bachelorettes, weddings, baby showers you name it!
I am very passionate about fresh seasonal produce and cooking with it. I think my inspiration started when we lived in the United Kingdom and travelled to Paris a lot. I have travelled to Dubai, Germany, London, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Paris and Venice and I do believe this has changed my view and tastes of different types of cuisine. I just loved walking down those markets and seeing these amazing produce, fresh fruit and vegetables. I had a passion for cooking with vegetables and fruit that we did not find in South Africa that stage for example fresh scallops, parma ham, dragon fruit, fennel etc and experimenting with different flavours and tastes. This is where our culinary adventure started. We would love to travel more in the future.
I loved sharing these experiences with my husband and we do everything together even cook and give cooking lessons together. I also love working with people and meeting new people, we are like a species of “foodies” and to share the love of food and cooking with someone and their experience or sharing something new with someone that has not made this or that before is truly wonderful. I was so excited when Nataniel chose me as one of his guests on the first season of Nataniel’s Tafel and also my experience on Masterchef SA’s first season’s top 50. I’ve also made it into Kokkedoors final camera audition for 2014 so hopefully with my drive and passion for good food 2015 will be the year! I would love to still learn more about food and to share my food knowledge with... show more people is so satisfying. I love to cook with heart and soul as I truly believe that you could taste it in your food depending in which mood you are. I loved making rusks with my mom when we were children before we went on holiday and learning all about my grandmothers sister on their farm about canning fruit and making jams, cakes and tarts. I love being creative, to think on your feet and to push oneself further than you thought were possible.
I have a back ground of an Honours Degree in Event management and tourism. Things heated up again when I saw my most favourite movie “Julie and Julia”. It was so inspirational that I stated blogging and doing some reviews on places and events which was so much fun and then I got snowed under with all the cake baking and cupcake making and cooking classes which we LOVE. To see people’s faces light up with accomplishment and satisfaction is what we strive for.
