  We've been having significant issues with rain water coming in through the exterior brick on the side of our house and going down into the basement walls. We know it's not he gutters and have already paid for the brick to be sealed. We just bought this house two months ago so this is an unexpected expense. We need to compare the cost of tuck pointing the wall (lots of holes in the mortar) vs. the cost to install siding over it. I'm assuming we could paint our old siding to match the new, but someone would need to do that as well. Can anyone recommend trustworthy and reasonable contractor to give us an estimate to tuck point the brick or install siding? Thank you so much and advance!

  We had a similar issue where heavy rains would cause water to get behind the brick. There was a problem with the flashing, so the water would run over top the foundation and into the basement. We used Michael Olding who removed the brick, replaced the flashing, and then put the brick back on (luckily we had some spare bricks). He was very knowledgeable and reasonable.
