Suggestions needed. I'm trying to create a "built-in" desk in my basement. I'm pretty sure I've got the base for the desk figured out, but am now trying to figure out desk top options. I need around a 60" L x 30" D desk top made, preferably with laminate/Formica on top. I know the warehouse stores sell pre-made countertops with laminate for around $80-100, but I don't want the backsplash, and they don't have the exact size I need. They won't cut it to size for me. I'm wondering if it'd just be cheaper to purchase my own board, have it cut exactly to my measurements, select me own laminate color and have someone glue (is that what's done?!?) the laminate to the board. I'm wondering if that'd be cheaper. Does anyone do that sort of thing? If so, who/where? How much would something like that cost? I can install the top myself, I just need the sheet of laminate placed (and cut maybe) on top of the board. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks!
