  I'm looking for a specialist who SUCESSFULLY helps children with SM in the ocean county, NJ area. My daughter is currently seeing a therapist, a psychiatrist, and two different speech pathologists--one with another child and the other one on one. Not only is it costing a fortune, but I am seeing zero improvement. Just this am she threw three tantrums and is just out of control. I wish I could afford to take her to one of those places in NY OR PA but we cannot afford it. I feel like I'm losing my mind and my child. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. *edited to say that I feel all if these different people, making different suggestions, going in different directions are making my child and I CRAZY. my instinct says it is all just too much. I need a simpler option. And I have seen ZERO improvement. In fact, it seems worse!†

  Child Mind Institute. The closest one to you is probably in NYC. We traveled there from NC. Totally worth it. childmind.org

  I'm sorry she is having a hard time and can imagine how frustrating! My daughter had seen Dr. Dahlsgaard at CHOP, who specializes in SM and they accept insurance (would have to check your own coverage). I would highly recommend seeing her, even for just a few sessions. She was wonderful and my daughter (5 y/o now) is doing great! Another suggestion are the free video courses online at the Child Mind Institute. I found it helped me work with my daughter and may also be a suggestion for the providers your Dtr is seeing now.

  I agree with Amy LaNoce, We traveled to the child Mind Institute from AZ and had tremendous results. They do offer financial aid. If you want to know more about our experience, I would be happy to share.

  Thank you. I contacted our coordinator a few weeks ago and didn't get a response. :( I will try again now. I wish the providers from childmind.org were closer!
