I've been using the Tubus Cosmo and it's great, not too heavy and can take a 40kg load. But it is relatively pricey. I'm being asked to recommend cheaper alternatives that can take the same load - any suggestions? Thanks, Simon

I believe the Nitto big rack marketed by Rivendell rivbike.com is a great option. Less $ than Tubus but still not cheap.
Cyclists! Here is a challenge. The front fork of this Bridgestone is bent beyond saving after a collision. The frame seems good, new wheels are ready. Who knows how and where to find/replace a front fork? I could pay someone who knows what they are doing!
Matt T. replied:
Start with the guy who designed this frame (or at least its predecessor, I can't tell year from pictures). Grant Petersen has been making and building Rivendell bikes for a while now I'd wager dollars to donuts that if you gave them a call they might have what you're looking for. They might even be able to color match to original. http://rivbike.com/
Bike shop recommendations? I just moved to town about 2 months ago and seeing as how there are no hills here, I think I'm in the market for a single speed,(not a fixed gear) does anyone have any tips on any bike shops I should check out?

My favorites are [Jitensha](http://jitensha.com/eng/e_index.html) (in Berkeley) and [Rivendell](http://www.rivbike.com/) (in Walnut Creek).
