  Anyone have a structural engineer they'd recommend with experience making recommendations for wall removal in neighborhood houses? I saw one in the contractor list, Robert Turton, but would love to hear about people's experiences. We're in a McCurdy Way standard brick ranch (that does have an addition already) but we would like to open up the kitchen to the walk-through bedroom/den. Thanks!

  We did this about 6 years ago in our house on Vistamont. The wall between the kitchen and pine paneled bedroom was not load bearing so that contractor just took it down. We now have a U-shaped countertop with the stove on the part of the U between the kitchen and the old BR.
