Ok, vintage clothing lovers I have a question: I have a lovely beaded wool day dress from the 1920's that needs cleaning. I've taken it to 2 different dry cleaners and neither would touch it. It has bugle beads on various areas of the trimming but other than that, its pretty solid wool with a silk underlining. It doesn't smell or have stains. Do you think I could cold hand wash and soak it, or not risk it? The inside bodice is pretty yellowed. Dry cleaning with chemicals didn't start until the 1930's so people cleaned formal garments by hand, right? Any suggestions or recommendations would be great.. thanks!
