How did Green Creek Gardens evolve you ask? Great question! I am blaming and thanking my husband, Walt. As I am transitioning from a K5 Principal to a Stay At Home Mom, Walt and I were throwing around ideas on how I could bring in extra income. Growing Sunflowers and Dahlias (at least this season) is the idea that stuck! As Walt stated, "We have the land, the water and you have the green thumb; let's go for it!" And so began Green Creek Gardens. I can't even begin to tell you how much I am enjoying this new challenge.
This first round, I have planted 8 different varieties of Sunflowers (Red, Red/Lemon, Buttercream, Moulin Rouge, Strawberry Blonde, Orange, Peach, Sunrich Orange). As for the Dahlias, I am growing many different colors and different sizes (pom-poms to dinner plate size).
The response has been out of this world! I am already making plans (also know as more work for Walt) for next year. I will be expanding my garden as well as the different types of cut flowers I will be growing. Such an exciting time!
