We seek to provide love in action to foster children in Western Pennsylvania as well as support to the foster families who are providing care for them. Beginning in July 2017, foster children will be able to come shop for free at our Donation Center! Other resources include providing a placement bag for a child, easing the transition with gift cards, assisting with additional resources or connecting families with a time of respite. Many children have to leave their homes with almost nothing or the few items they have are put in a trash bag. We want to break the stigma of the trash bag and provide some new, fresh items for kids that have to go through this hard transition. Placement bags can be given to kids as they are transitioned to a new home and include a new duffle bag/backpack, new pj's, a blanket, stuffed animal, book, toothbrush/toothpaste, bath soap/puff. Kelly Hughes started this project after seeing 7 foster kids come into her home with little or nothing. Her desire is to show some extra love to kids on a very hard day. She can be reached at pghmoms@live.com.
Best place to donate clothes? Especially shoes?
I have bags of clothes and shoes, normally I drop off at Goodwill, but I know a lot of their donations getting tossed.
Any suggestions??
