Psychologist recommendations? Hi Again Fellow Redditors,
I have never posted anything like this or that I consider to be highly personal but Redditors I'm really in need of recommendations on a good psychologist. Any suggestions? Preferably someone who specializes in dealing with anger issues stemming from divorced parents. I'm a 32 year old normal dude, great job, good life, very outgoing/funny, life of the party type. But anger issues, bad attitude, and internal chaos have begun to affect my relationship with my girlfriend. I believe this stems from divorced parents during childhood (doesnt always come from childgood, haha) and I simply have not really been forced to confront these issues. Now that I'm living with someone and in a relationship, I simply am not dealing with these things as I should and am now seeking professional guidance. I hope to hear everyone's suggestions. Thanks

Thanks for sharing. Look in your health insurance plan for a co-pay psychologist. You may want to reach out to nonprofit groups like DBSA.org or HAWC.org or unitedwayhouston.org for general guidance to anger management support groups in the area. The people of the support groups will be better to relate to you're experiences and help you find and evaluate your chosen psychologist(s). Finding a match can take some time and being able to share your experience will help you achieve your desired counseling goals. Best of luck!
Can anyone recommend an affordable psychologist/psychiatrist? I've been feeling like garbage for the last 6+ years, while putting on my brave face for everyone else. My life is upside down. I've never seen a therapist before, but figure now's the time to get my life back on track. I don't like to self-diagnose myself, but I have every symptom of depression, and have for many years now. The only symptom I don't have is suicide(although I did when I was younger) but I don't want to get to that point. Also went through a minor life altering event, which has completely changed my personality. People have been commenting on it lately.
I am unemployed, so an affordable therapist or even a pro bono therapist would be even better. I know they have to make money, but remain hopeful. I've never done this before, so any advice is also welcomed.
Thanks.
