Looking for a really good private Chinese tutor I've just moved to Shanghai and started the beginner intensive Chinese program at ECNU this week. I'm in a small group class (~10 people) and, while there's a lot I like about it, I think private instruction would be a better fit for me.
Have you guys found any good private instruction schools in Shanghai that you would recommend I enroll in in the Fall? How much should I expect to pay per hour if I had a private tutor?

The teachers at GoEast - www.goeastmandarin.com - are all really good with degrees in teaching Chinese. They have their own school where you can take 1-on-1 lessons or join a small class (2, 3, 4 people). They can also come to you if you prefer. Highly recommended!
Affordable Chinese Tutor/Classes for Beginners Hi,
I am looking for a Chinese Tutor or Class for beginners. My office is willing to sponsor me but they have budget limitations. Looking at not more than 250-300 an hour for personal tutor. Please let me know if you know anyone who is a qualified teacher.
I only know a few phrases and about 20 characters, so I am a complete beginner to the language, not looking for intermediate or advanced classes. Just want to get a basic grasp of the language.
PS: I live in Xuhui, near Yi Shan lu. I don't want to travel too far for classes.

[GoEast](http://www.goeastmandarin.com) are a very professional bunch of teachers that do one-on-one teaching on location. (I think) They fit within your budget.
Recommendation for advanced Chinese tutor? Hello /r/Shanghai!
I'm looking for a new Chinese tutor, as my old one moved back to Taiwan. I'm reasonably fluent (probably HSK 5 or 6) but am feeling rusty.
Thanks!

This depends on where you live, but if you're near line 10/Wujiaochang then I can recommend [GoEast](http://www.goeastmandarin.com). They aim for higher quality, and all their teachers have university degrees from Fudan/Beijing. They're very good.

Near the Fudan campus is a small Mandarin school: www.goeastmandarin.com I'm not sure if that constitutes close to Sanmen Lu, but it's only a few minutes by bike I think. They do free introductory lessons, by the way.
