  Bacchus Restaurant was once the Central Methodist Mission, then when the Uniting Church was inaugurated it was the City of Newcastle Parish Mission. I used to go to Youth for Christ there every month on a Saturday evening when it was the Central Methodist Mission and then years later I returned to be the Superintendent Minister of the City of Newcastle Parish Mission. Returned later to find it a Theatre, then Bacchus Restaurant, I could not help smile at the irony of the bar at the Bacchus Restaurant being right where the Communion Table used to be in the church, not bad for an old tea total Methodist establishment!
