Qualifications: (BA (PU for CHE), BA Hons - Psych (UP), MA - Couns Psych (UP))
I did my academic year for my Master's degree in Counselling Psychology at UP. The following year was spent completing my internship at the Dept of Labour, where I stayed on until the end of 1993. I registered as a Counselling Psychologist in January 1994 (PS 0039470).
I registered my private practice in January 1994. I became a member of the South African Society of Clinical Hypnosis (SASCH), a division of PsySSA, (1994-1999) and completed Phase II.
During 2001 I started my training in SHIP® and in October 2004 I registered as a SHIP® for Adults Facilitator at the 4th Annual National Conference of THE SHIP® FOUNDATION.
Clients:
I work with individuals (18 years and older) and couples who are experiencing everyday challenges and those with more serious psychological diffciculties, such as:
Life changes Relationship difficulties Divorce, infidelities, etc. Loss and bereavement Uncontrolled anger outbursts Compulsive behaviours (gambling, etc.) Traumas, such as hijacking, rape, unexpected losses, witnessing violence, termination of pregnancy
Consultations and Fees:
Typically, a first consultation would take the form of an assessment of your needs. An estimation of the length of time and the program to be followed will be discussed with you. Follow-up consultations usually take place on a weekly basis.
Consultations lasts at least 60 minutes. Where appropriate, this will be extended in consultation with the client.
Hi all, can anyone recommend a good psychologist in Somerset West or Strand? Preferably someone with trauma counselling abilities. Feedback is much appreciated.
