Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
I am from University Place Washington. I got into this business by cutting the hair of my Barbie dolls as a child. From there, I advanced to experimenting on my sister. Once I determined that this was something I had a penchant for, I attended AVEDA Arts and Sciences Institute in Seattle.
Describe a typical work day for you?
One thing I love about this business is that THERE IS NO TYPICAL WORK DAY!
From where do you draw your enthusiasm and inspiration for the job?
I draw my enthusiasm and inspiration from people! My Guests, my Team and my family and friends who support me in life!
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
The key is in the consultation. The stylist must understand the Guests’ needs! This requires open communication with clear expectations regarding the desired results. It is important that the Guests pass information regarding what they like and what they do not like. A picture is best for this particularly with a cut, color or style. There is no such thing as too much information here! If the service is for a special occasion, let the stylist know. Also, provide information regarding past services and home care as past treatments and products can impact how the stylist may need to go about achieving the desired results of the Guests. Listen to advice, tips, suggestions, precautions, maintenance, product recommendations, etc. Lastly, understand that the final decision is yours and do not be shy!
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
I have been in the industry serving my wonderful Guests and working with a fantastic Team for 8 years. There are many memorable experiences.
