About us
Fingers and Paws Dog Training was founded in 2012 as Lisa F. Bert, Dog Trainer, just before I achieved the national independent certification of Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed (CPDT_KA). Inspired by my previous experiences, I decided my strength was in my patience with new learners, both canine and human, and my experience as a mom juggling the needs of dogs and children. I decided to specialize in helping families with children and dogs, so I applied to and was accepted to be a licensed presenter for Family Paws Parent Education. Not long thereafter I became a member and licensed BE A TREE presenter for Doggone Safe.
Today I enjoy providing positive training and education to people through both in-home consultations and training and through group classes and seminars. I help people who are first time dog owners and people who've had dogs before but want help with their newest addition. I support those who are adding dogs to a family with children or who are adding children to a family with dogs. Rescued dogs sometimes need special understanding, and as a volunteer with a local shelter whose own dogs have all been rescues, I take a special interest in these dogs lucky enough to get another chance.
My philosophy is that education makes for better training and that training should be fun for all involved. To that end, my teaching is infused with healthy doses of humor and patience. I employ the clicker as a marking signal to let the dog know when he or she gets it right and am generous in my praise of both the dogs and their people.

We have this little gem but our older dog recently suffered an episode similar to that of a stroke so we have to keep the puppy away because he tends to be a terror and bite crap out of him and pretty much anyone else when you least expect it. We have young kids and the old pup so we would like help with the biting and basic commands so he can be tolerable for our first born.
