  Hello there! I'm gonna try to help you a lil bit :) Well, there is a hostel in Glodok (the Chinatown), you can check on http://m.thepackerlodge.com the price is about USD10 per night. For transjakarta, the timetable couldn't be predictable, because sometimes it will takes 5 minutes per arrival or even more, for one way it costs IDR3500 or MYR1 (you can buy a flazz for using it as the entrance card). And well, there are a lot of recommended foods that i can't mention you one by one, many backpackers will definetly visit Sabang street as their choice. So, good luck and welcome to Jakarta! :)

  You can try the packer lodge or six degree backpacker hostel.. those are good hostel.. located in the city where you can easily go by bus or other public transport.. http://m.thepackerlodge.com
