Hey all - need some advice. Our main line backed up (tree roots) and we had a few inches of water in our basement. When the guy came out, so did someone to assess the damage to our basement.
We have wood paneling, concrete floors and the wood framing. The area that flooded is the concrete area. Apparently the water got about a foot in to our carpeted area in a small spot (not sure I believe this since I cleaned up the water and didn't see it near the carpeted area...)
Guy is saying it was sewer water, so the area needs to be cleaned and the walls need to be torn out. Additionally, the carpet and pad need to be replaced. In regard to the main drain backing up, and it being sewer water, is this really true?
He's quoting 2-4k just to rip it all out and clean it up. That doesn't include repairing the paneling.
Thoughts? Advice? I know he's trying to sell us something, so I need to know if this can actually make us sick or not.
Thanks in advance.
